Progress on my 1st sweater

I started working on my very first sweater on Monday and I'm already done with the back--it's so exciting to see results! I've been squeezing in some knitting at work (on my breaks) and everyone that sees me is surprised. Apparently I don't look like a knitter, just like I don't look like a librarian. ;) Here's the back of the sweater:

I was more than a little nervous about making clothing, but so far it doesn't seem too bad. We'll see how it looks when it's completed...I used Merino Stretch yarn so hopefully it isn't too big. The yarn's so beautiful and it was a great price on Elann.com.

The Shrug

I wanted to call it The Sprained Ankle Shrug. The whole time I was knitting it, my foot was elevated, wrapped in an ace bandage, and covered by an ice bag.

Interweave Knits's Minimalist Ribbon Shrug (p. 3)

The shrug is mostly in stockinette stitch, with garter stitch edging.

New purse

This weekend we're celebrating our one-year anniversary. Very exciting. I took the week off of work and we went on a mini-vacation to Montauk, NY. Unfortunately I have a sprained ankle so sightseeing and swimming weren't as doable as I would have liked, but we still had fun. (And I had plenty of time to knit before and after the trip. More in the next post. :)

While we were away I got this beautiful Coach purse. I love it so I had to post it even though it isn't knitted!
